I was lucky to work with the wonderful Luisa Brimble, who is an uber-talented photographer and just overall amazing person and the fabulous blogger Natalie form Eat Read Love on a fashion editorial shoot for a designer boutique in Cronulla, called ROAR. If you are ever in the area, check it out! The shop is located in a former church building, and is just really worth visiting.

Are you liking the look? Here is how I achieved it:

The model sure was a natural beauty, so I kept her makeup very spring/summery and bare. I wanted to create an undone look, like a cool girl would achieve herself. Just emphasizing her features without the use of colour. Base: Starting with a hydrating toner by Tata Harper and massaging Jessica's dry skin with nourishing moisturizer Vinosource Riche by Caudalie Paris/ Her gorgeous skin only needed a dab of foundation through the center, I chose Chanel Vitalumiere in 20, which gives a beautiful radiant sheen and Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal for highlights on the cheekbone & upper lip. I brightened her under eye area with By Terry Touch expert in Nr.3, then contoured her cheekbones with Benefit Hula Bronzer to sculpt the cheeks. Eyes: I used a nude eyeliner to open Jessica's pretty eyes, dabbing clear gloss into the inner corners of her eye and just sweeping underneath her lower lashes with a soft liner brush and some warm brown eyeshadow. On the upper lid I soflty blended a wash of peach pink eyeshadow by Nars. The brows were filled in with a Laura Mercier Brow Pencil in Blonde and then brushed up with an Ardell Brow Gel. After curling her lashes, I only used one coat of mascara to keep it more understated.

Lips: A tinted balm on the lip and ready was this super simple and natural look.

Hair: The hair was tonged in different directions, to create a random natural wave with texture and movement.

And now I am really in mood for Sydney Spring!

No Brushes Tutorial- Makeup with your fingers

I have been experimenting with video lately. It's a completely new field for me I am just learning everything about filming, editing and sound... After a week of learning more I chose to make my first ever video public, although the audio is really off, and it's not perfect in many ways... It's work in progress I think. I have already bought a microphone, so the next sound will hopefully come out better.

None the less I hope you enjoy this little fun NO BRUSHES tutorial. And my following videos hopefully hurt your ears less ;)

Every Day Makeup Turtorial

The other week, just before her beautiful baby girl was born, the gorgeous Gaby from This Little Port was feeling very tired. Not being able to sleep with that then very big bump and a rather dancing baby inside, she asked me for some simple every day makeup tips to look fresh when you are tired! Please go over and check it out. Feel free to comment on her blog for any further questions about makeup and I will do my best to answer them for you. There are also some more makeup tips over here at White Magazine!

I hope you enjoy!

New season, new shoes & a new home office

This is not about weddings or makeup, this is just about me and new work life over here. Winter is very different here in Sydney. I am from Germany, where winters get bitter cold and the atmosphere completely changes. Although it's chilly now and I do turn the gas heater on in the evenings, drink tea, eat pumpkin soup and sleep with hot water bottles on my feet, during the day it still feels nice enough to sit outdoors in a cafe. Some trees loose their leaves, but the city is still very green even now. I wear shoes without socks even in winter! It's amazing. My favourite new little "winter" shoes are pretty ballerinas, from House of Harlow 1960. A little treat to make Winter time more fun. I think I can safely say, I like Winter over here, a completely new experience for me.

While weddings are slowing down in June and July over here, there is plenty of admin to catch up on for me. My beloved laptop just died, and after being a little confused and upset for a week, I am now all set up with a spanking new iMac, which makes me feel all settled. Winter work consists of plenty of paperwork, admin and business planning. At the same time also of realizing my own makeup projects for my portfolio and collaborating with some wonderful people. While most people in the industry are taking time off, I take time to settle in and organize myself for the busy season ahead.

I am only now finally getting into a bit of a routine in my new Sydney life and feels very good.

I am freshly in love...

...with our life over here in Australia and with my job. With the change of seasons and the crisp cool days. With Sydney and the colours. I love being a makeup artist, I am in love with teaching people about skin care, I am passionate about nutrition and I rediscovered my love for writing. I am in love with weddings and everyone I get to work with.

Lately I had the chance to collaborate with the wonderful White Magazine and I am writing a series of guest posts for them as Beauty Expert. Read the first part of my Get The Glow Series here and try my favourite smoothie recipes. I will share my insider tips on how to achieve a healthy radiant skin step by step. Thanks White Team, for inviting me as a guest!
