Some rad little wedding things

I have been amazed by the creative wedding culture that I have found in Australia. Being a makeup artist in Sydney has been amazing in the little time I have spent here. I already mentioned the great unique wedding fair One Fine Day that is happening in February 2012. Besides that I have found incredibly inspiring wedding magazines like WHITE, which I just bought and absolutely love. As well as Hello May Magazine, another magazine with an amazing creative and unique approach to weddings. I hope to get a chance to collaborate with them and meeting the inspiring people behind them. If you are going to get married anytime soon, check them out asap.

Being inspired by all this rad magazines and people. I thought I put together a little post about unique and different wedding flats. As the temperatures are rising over here, I found flat shoes and comfortable shoes are becoming more important. How adorable are the little mustard ones from My Suelly? I hope you enjoy my little selection of cute little shoes that I would totally wear on a summer wedding.

Farewell London

One of the last makeup jobs I have done before leaving London for our new home Sydney, was this Editorial just published in Papercut Magazine. I loved working with the super talented photographer Samantha Nandez and although she is based in the USA and I am in Australia, I really hope to get the chance of working together again in the future. Check out our London Editorial here.

Brides in Brogues

Doesn't the girl just look amazing in her outfit? I have found the images via the NIBS blog which is full of great fashion inspiration. Check it out here. Since I am on a roll with posts about alternative wedding shoes I found a few more stunning and inspiring images for you.

I just got a pair of amazing low smart shoes, that are similar to the brogues in the photo. Mine are from kmb and I love wearing them with about anything, especially with dresses. Walking around with my makeup kit I refer comfortable shoes for work and also since wedding season here in Sydney is in full swing, I would love to wear them to weddings as a guest too with a classic dress. Right now there are so many girly brogues out there in white or pastels which would just look amazing with a wedding dress.

Moccasins & White Blankets

Doesn't the bride above look amazing? I found the image via the fantastic photographers Lukas and Suzy. It's always been fun to look into all the different cultural world wedding traditions. I am always impressed by the fashions of Native American tribes. The colours and materials are so inspiring. Here are some traditional native wedding customs and fashions.

The Blanket Ceremony is one of the oldest and most endearing wedding traditions among some Native American tribes. This ritual entails using two blue blankets to represent the couple’s past lives. The couple are wrapped in blue blankets and led to a sacred circle of fire. The officiant or spiritual leader blesses the union and the couple shed the blue blankets and enveloped by relatives in a single white blanket which represents their new life. Under the white blanket, it’s customary that the couples embrace and kiss. The white blanket is usually kept and displayed in the couple’s home.

The Native American bride may wear a white dress or a beautiful long leather dress with beading and traditional colors woven into the fabric. The traditional colors of Native Americans include White for east, Blue for south, Yellow for west, and Black for north. These four colors represent the four points of the earth. Native American brides may also wear moccasins and a wreath made of maize which symbolizes fertility.

Moccasins for a wedding? YES, please, I think they would make super comfy and cool wedding shoes. I love the low smart shoes in the picture above who are by Le Temps De Cerise and are the cutest I have seen this season.
