A day in Greenwich and Royal Teas

Last Sunday we spent the day in Greenwich, home of Greenwich Mean Time, where you can get the most beautiful view over London.
The Park was full of squirrels. These little creatures are so cute and photogenic.
We expected a little sunshine and a picnic but it was pretty chilly...
Hidden away from all the tourist attractions in a small and quiet side street, we found the best little cafe ever, Royal Teas,
where Adrian and Alex joined us for lunch.
They serve coffee by the pot, enough to warm all four of us up and delicious veggie food.
Sunday was the last cold day here in London and it has been sunny ever since. I even got a little bit of a tan by now.
On a little flea market in Greenwich David found a great industrial lamp, one that we have been looking for for sooooo long. And we saw the tiniest little window, maybe in the world!?
A chilly but very nice day. Thanks everyone for the great company! And special thanks to Dave who took all the great pictures that day!

Panini & Pancakes + Holiday Planning

It's always a real treat, that one weekend we are  having off together each month.
Due to my job, I am working most weekends, I have learned to appreciate free weekends even more.
This one started already wonderful with our flatmates making a fabulous pancake breakfast on Saturday morning.
An authentic Italian lunch afterwards served by Piero at Angel Delicatessen outdoors, felt almost like being away.
And then we got really excited spending quite some hours planning our summer holiday for July.  (Can't wait!) Followed by candlelight dinner at home and watching a good movie in bed.
What a day! I will post more about our Sunday soon.
This week I have also been invited by Lena from Musings to write a guest post for her beautiful blog here. As well as been interviewed by Elie for Punctuation Mark her inspiring blog about design and photography here.
Thank you so much Ladies, for these great features.

Mayworkaholics OR work is love in action

Lately we didn't find the time to hang out, there is so much work going on right now.
Sometimes it's amazing to have flat mates. In these busy times, they made dinner for us, when we had very long work days and they also created a second herb garden in our flat with hand painted pots.
Our Spring 2012 essientials for London are:
Hotwater bottles (not kidding it has been extremely cold last week)
Hot spicy Tea
Yellow nails ( to stimulate the sun?! )
Fluffy slippers
Candles
Yes, that sounds like Winter, right? Appearantly it's the coldest Spring in 100 years.
We have pretty much just been working non stop. AlwaysAnytimeTwentyfourseven.
Good that we love our jobs! I do start to crave a holiday and some time to spent with Dave very soon.
In the meantime, I need some good coffee and remember that work is love in action!

Time to Play in the Rainforest and cheer us up apple pie

Being very busy work wise right now, Dave had the perfect surprise for me the other night. After fighting my way through the storm and rain, getting soaked and feeling pretty cold, I found he transformed our bedroom into a chirping warm jungle.
It felt like being back on holiday in Cairns, when I closed my eyes.
And it brought back memories, of when we started to go out, and built blanket forts in our room. I can't wait to book a little getaway soon. I am so ready for some sunshine and play time.

This constant cold rain for the last weeks, really taught me a lesson in how to keep smiling-
Here are my recipes, just in case you are ever facing a similar weather challenge :

#1 Building a blanket fort, making indoors as comfortable as possible.
#2 Getting delicious spicy teas.
#3 Baking and eating an apple pie. (Saved my day today! Find my recipe here!)
#4 Remembering to include play time, even in busy weeks.
#5 Thinking about this uplifting little quote which feels so encouraging;
“You is kind. You is smart. You is important.”  From the movie The Help
#6 Planning a holiday
#7 Staying in Pyjamas all day on your day off, doing #1-#7
#8 Doing Yoga
#9 Singing fun songs out LOUD
